Alero M.E Ogbemi-Barlow attended the prestigious Queens College, Yaba, Lagos and The Ladies’ College, Cheltenham in the United Kingdom.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Law and Politics from Hull University, United Kingdom and a post graduate Certificate of Law from Buckingham University. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985 and is registered as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

During her thirty three years of law practice, she established Alero M.E. Barlow & Co., Walcot Properties Limited,  WPL Investment Limited, Walcot Arts Foundation for Youth Empowerment(WAFY) amongst others. Ms. Ogbemi-Barlow has been involved in Pan African legal and judicial reform issues. She was appointed by the World Bank as a member of the Technical Committee for the All Africa Conference on Law, Justice and Development.  She was part of the team whose work resulted in the success of the All African Conference on Law Justice and Development held in Abuja, Nigeria in 2003. Her work with the Coalition of Africa Jurists has helped her to pursue one of her core interests, namely, legal and judicial reform.

Ms Ogbemi-Barlow has received an award for her services in the cause of youth empowerment and education in neglected areas and an award by the Supreme Court of Nigeria for her contribution to the success of the All Africa Conference on Law Justice and Development in 2003.

Her core interests include the following: (i) youth empowerment through the arts and scholarships for further education and skill acquisition programs; (ii) affirmative action to promote access to political office for women and physically challenged adults; (iii) provision of water infrastructure for communities and schools in neglected areas (iv) more protection and opportunities for minorities; and (v) fostering the rule of law in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
